Matthew Walker Comprehensive Health Center has an exciting opportunity available for a skilled, resourceful and motivated individual who would like to make a difference in the lives of others in helping a non-for-profit organization fulfill its mission to provide quality health care in Nashville, TN. Reporting to the Research Coordinator, the Bilingual Research Assistant/Community Health Worker will be responsible for interviewing and collecting survey information from community members who have been recruited to participate in a study of COVID-19 risk. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Outreach:
- Recruit and consent participants for the study.
- Schedule and conduct one-on-one interviews with individuals per study protocol.
- Educate participants about study recruitment protocols.
- Provide incentives and referrals as required.
Communications:
- Assist with the development of educational materials for the African American, Latinx, and other populations at increased risk for COVID-19.
- Present health information to participants as needed.
- Ensure surveys are uploaded into the appropriate database
Perform other duties as assigned
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelors’ degree from an accredited college or university in Marketing, Health Promotions/Outreach, Health Education, health administration or related field, with a minimum of one 2-3 years prior experience as a community health worker; or a community health worker certificate is preferred. Demonstrated successful outreach, community organizing, and facilitation skills. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate orally and in writing in English and/or Spanish. Experience collecting biometric data (height, weight, blood pressure, etc.) will be an advantage, but is not required. Must have access to reliable transportation.
