The Gourmet Grocery Manager oversees the daily operations of the gourmet grocery section, including purchasing, stocking, and managing inventory. This role requires a strong understanding of gourmet foods, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to maintain high standards of customer service.
Responsibilities:
Purchasing:
Source and purchase a diverse range of high-quality gourmet products, including but not limited to specialty foods, cheeses, meats, wines, and other gourmet items.
Negotiate with suppliers to ensure competitive pricing and favorable terms.
Monitor market trends and customer preferences to adjust purchasing decisions accordingly.
Inventory Management:
Maintain accurate inventory records and manage stock levels to ensure adequate supply without overstocking.
Conduct regular inventory audits and implement measures to minimize shrinkage and loss.
Coordinate with the store manager to develop and implement pricing strategies to maximize sales and profitability.
Stocker:
Receive incoming shipments and verify the accuracy of orders.
Organize and stock shelves and displays in an attractive and efficient manner.
Monitor product expiration dates and rotate stock to ensure freshness.
Customer Service:
Provide exceptional customer service by assisting customers with product selection, answering inquiries, and addressing complaints or issues.
Offer product recommendations and provide information about gourmet items to enhance the shopping experience.
Ensure the grocery section is clean, well-maintained, and visually appealing at all times.
Team Management:
Supervise and train staff members working in the gourmet grocery section.
Schedule and assign tasks to ensure adequate coverage and efficient operation.
Motivate and support team members to achieve sales targets and deliver outstanding customer service.
Qualifications:
Proven experience in a similar role, preferably in a gourmet grocery or specialty food store.
Strong knowledge of gourmet foods and beverages, including sourcing, purchasing, and merchandising.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
Proficiency in inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in culinary arts or food management is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and stand for extended periods.
Willingness to work in a refrigerated environment.
Pay: $17.00 - $21.00 per hour
