STIHL Inc. has openings for Apprentices to train in a variety of departments at our manufacturing plant in Virginia Beach, VA. You will have the opportunity to perform an assortment of manual and semi-skilled tasks that meet program requirements of Virginia’s registered Apprenticeship Program, including trades of: Mechatronics Technician and Tool & Die Maker.
During the course of the program, the Apprentice will:
- Gain knowledge of the operating procedures in the assigned department. Receive training and instruction on machine operation, quality and production standards, and departmental processes, procedures and goals. Participate in actual departmental operations to the extent that training allows and is feasible.
- Learn blueprint reading and specifications, using various computer programs, mechanical activities and using mathematical concepts (using metrics) during the course of the department assignment.
- Communicate the learning obtained through various methods to include written assignments, interviews and oral reports.
- Participate in related projects as assigned, which may be individual projects to show proficiencies business-related departmental projects that offer exposure to specific skills or information.
- Complete related courses of study as required by the Program.
- Assume additional related responsibilities as assigned.
