Collections Representative

Counsel Press' New York City location is seeking an enthusiastic and hard-working Collections Representative who is eager to learn and grow. Responsibilities include communicating with our attorney customers regarding past-due balances and utilizing a variety of collection methods. This role is ideal for a collections candidate seeking growth, great atmosphere and responsibility. We are seeking someone experienced with corporate collections on behalf of a professional services company.
The successful candidate will excel in our process driven environment by having great attention to detail. You must demonstrate the ability to follow directions and adhere to our processes while working within a team to serve our clients’ needs. The Collections Representative will perform the following tasks:
- Conduct collection calls and creates correspondence in a fast-paced goal-oriented department.
- Provides customer service regarding collection issues, review account adjustments, and resolve customer disputes.
- Enlists the efforts of sales team and senior management when necessary to accelerate the collection process.
- Must communicate & follow up effectively with sales team regarding customer accounts on a timely basis.
- Establishes and maintains effective and cooperative working relationships with customers, department management and the sales team.
- Fulfills customer requests and sends reprints (paper or electronic) of invoices, statements, and credits to accounts as needed.
- Reports issues concerning payment of accounts to the department management.
- Assists the Credit Manager with day to day operations.
- Responsibilities include communicating with our attorney customers regarding past-due balances and utilizing a variety of collection methods.
- Attends collection meetings, provides account status and workload documentation to the department management to ensure collection goals are met and promotes teamwork.

Qualifications and requirements of the position:
- Minimum 2 years direct experience corporate collections for a professional service organization
- Excellent telephone skills
- Prefer associates or bachelor’s degree
- Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word & Excel
- Excellent math and writing skills
- Able to communicate orally and in writing in a clear and professional manner
- Ability to prioritize in order to meet goals
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Ability to be a highly contributing part of the team on a daily basis
